ALSTON THOMPSON is a photography studio based in Richmond, Virginia. We specialize in interiors photography, residential real estate photography, commercial real estate photography and architectural photography.

Sarah Thompson Mayfield has worked in photography, art, architecture, and design since graduating with her BA in anthropology, with a focus in photography, and later an MA in art history. Working in New York in the art department at Atlantic Records and then assisting photographers; studying and teaching photography at the Maine Media workshops in Rockport, Maine, serving a curatorial internship at the Hirshhorn Museum + Sculpture Garden, Washington DC, and teaching photography at the Visual Arts Center, Richmond, Virginia, she also worked as assistant director at Page Bond Gallery in Richmond, before moving back to New York to work for David Zwirner. She left to begin her own photography work while managing artists Matthew Day Jackson in Brooklyn, Charles Long and Sam Falls in Los Angeles. After splitting time between Los Angeles and Richmond to work with clients for Alston Thompson Photography, Sarah now lives in Richmond with her family full time.

Jack Mayfield had a fascination with architectural photography and literature at an early age. He worked in New York at the literary agency Curtis Brown before going on to work with musicians and photography. Jack then returned to Richmond to join the family business as a principal in direct marketing. He and Sarah joined forces photographically to work with clients from Richmond to Los Angeles and in between. Combining their talents in photography, architecture, art, and marketing, Alston Thompson brings a uniquely tailored experience to each project.
